Kisangani Diary

Synopsis

Along an overgrown railway track south of Kisangani, in the former Zaire, a UN expedition and a handful of journalists come across “lost” refugees. They are Hutus from faraway Rwanda, the last survivors of three years of hunger and armed persecution that ravaged the vast Congo basin. Kisangani Diary follows these refugees into the rainforest, leading the viewer into the heart of darkness – the same place where Joseph Conrad wrote his novel a century before – and revealing the chaos and inconceivable suffering that are the consequences of civil war.
