Bein gderot (Between Fences)
Avi Mograbi
Synopsis
Holot is a detention centre for African asylum seekers in the middle of the Israeli desert. Enter Chen Alon and Avi Mograbi, who decide to set up a drama workshop following the principles of the Theatre of the Oppressed, which aims to bring about political and social change from the stage. The process starts with the asylum seekers describing scenes from their own lives, but the dynamic changes when several Israelis get involved as well. Can role playing and shifts in perspective help foster a deeper understanding of other points of view? Bein gderot poses more questions than it answers.
