Havarie
Philip Scheffner
Synopsis
At 2.56 pm on 14 September 2012, the Spanish Maritime Rescue Centre received a call from the cruise liner Adventure of the Seas reporting the sighting of a dinghy adrift with 13 people on board. Out of a YouTube clip Havarie conjures up a choreography reflecting the past, present and future of voyagers on the Mediterranean. Disassociated yet carefully interweaved sounds, conversations, observations and interviews create a space where viewers can experience something very personal without ever losing sight of the subject at hand: a truly radical cinematic coup.
