Lost Highway (David Lynch)
L'Alternativa Parallel / She Cuts / Lost Highway

Synopsis

Set in a city both modern and retro, a jazz musician tortured by the notion that his wife is having an affair suddenly finds himself accused of her murder. In a parallel story, a young mechanic is drawn into a web of deceit by a woman who is cheating on her gangster boyfriend. The mystifying plot and narrative are truly intriguing in this visionary, impressionistic approach to the deep and murky recesses of the psyche and imagination. The film steers us firmly down the road away from rational thought.
Edited by Mary Sweeney (1953), who worked with Lynch for over 20 years as an editor and producer.
“David works in a very intuitive and emotional way. It needed, for me, to have an emotional logic, and because I knew David very well, we just clicked in that sense. It's maybe about shared experiences, maybe childhood. We both have Midwestern experiences. Maybe it's a little bit of Irish blood and soulfulness that we share.” (Mary Sweeney)
