Boris Lehman
Boris Lehman (Lausanne, 1944) studied film at the Institut National Supérieur des Arts du Spectacle in Brussels, after initially studying piano.
Since the early 1960s he has made an impressive number of films based largely on his own everyday life: his friends, the familiar places in his life and the strange places he travels to. His highly personal form of filmmaking might begin with someone else in front of the camera, but he often turns it around to put himself at the centre of the action.
Although he shuns the audiovisual industry and has had little public recognition, his close to 400 independent films in a range of different formats, registers and running times have been seen worldwide at many leading film festivals and contemporary art institutions.
Boris Lehman will be at l’Alternativa 2018 in person to give the seminar Films as Long Walks, as well as to present the retrospective of his work.
