L’Alternativa and El Meu Primer Festival are teaming up once again to curate events at both festivals, including two very special sessions for young children, together with a children’s workshop on film editing and the group filmmaking project Let’s Make a Movie with thetreeonthesea, the sixth consecutive edition to be held at both festivals.

Animated crayon drawings, card and plasticine montages, figures made out of scrap metal... or just a camera and a dash of imagination: you can use anything to made a film from scratch to tell an exciting story, a thrilling adventure, a magical encounter or a metaphor for life on earth. So here is this year’s selection of video clips and short films: a fresh batch of great little experiments.

Mitsuha lives with her grandmother and younger sister in a mountain village where traditions still hold strong. Longing to experience the thrills of bustling city life, she lets her imagination run wild and dreams she is a Tokyo teenager, free from her family obligations. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she wakes up one day only to find herself in the body of Taki, a secondary-school student in the great metropolis who juggles his time between lessons, friends and his part-time job. At the same time, Taki finds that he has switched bodies with Mitsuha and is living her life in the countryside. As the two teenagers slowly adjust to this strange turn of events, they start to discover the mysteries of their amazing exchanges.
