Synopsis
Following the fall of the Wall, a vast swathe of Berlin became first an urban wasteland and then a huge building site. Over four years, Hubertus Siegert followed the colossal development projects planned for the reunified city in the 1990s, the likes of which had never been seen anywhere else in the world before. The film interweaves architecture, political debates, spiritual journeys and visions of the history of Berlin, to music by Einstürzende Neubauten and commentary by visionary architects, including Rem Koolhaas, Renzo Piano and I.M. Pei.
