El Acusado

Synopsis

What degree of truth is hidden in a lie? My grandfather, Antonio, always lived in the shadow of Enrique, an alter ego he made up when he was just a teenager, who would go on to serve as a mask and a shield throughout his entire life. But what exactly was he hiding from? Did he end up believing in the web of lies he spun? El Acusado is a documentary about family lies and how trauma can be passed down through generations.

Bio/Filmo

Laura Álvarez created TV content before making the documentary feature City for Sale (Bausan Films, 2018), which premiered at the Málaga Film Festival and DocsBarcelona and was then screened at festivals and cultural centres across Europe and Latin America, as well as being nominated for Best Documentary at the 12th Gaudí Awards in 2020. She is currently writing her second feature, with input from the Master's Degree in Creative Documentary at the UPF.
