L’Alternativa Professionals presents this symposium aimed at all those involved in offering advice and input for film projects. Every year, we get together to share techniques and strategies for helping projects grow while ensuring that none of the filmmaker’s original vision is lost along the way.
This year we shall focus on the figure of the screenplay adviser / consultant / mentor. In Spain, this job is often performed by people with a range of different artistic and professional backgrounds, whereas in other countries it falls fairly and squarely within the remit of the production department. We shall share our own experiences and consider the doubts and worries that can arise when offering creative input.
Some of the questions we shall aim to answer include the following: Should there be specific training on offer to do this job? To what extent do personal experiences influence the process of learning how to do it? How can we create spaces for exchange? Does working in groups produce results? How can we boost creativity? What should we do to activate analysis and assessment?
