Synopsis
This film on the work of Surrealist painter René Magritte questions objective reality and stresses the arbitrary nature of the relationship between object, image and name. By transforming ordinary objects or depicting them in unusual contexts in order to distance them from our simple, preconditioned ideas, Magritte sought to evoke the mystery of the external world, which we can only access through our representations of it. A lesson in an artist’s poetic universe.
