Synopsis
Based loosely on Bizet’s Carmen, Prénom Carmen contrasts a young string quartet rehearsing Beethoven with the efforts of an unusual terrorist cell planning to rob a bank to get the funds to make a movie. The film explores a new generation’s response to a post-1968 France where the need to create is often determined more by material circumstance than by ideals and aspirations.
